The Peter and Paul Fortress brings Kibalchich and the guard together. Memories unfold to the accompaniment of a waltz—the park, the unveiling of a monument, the mint. A walk before the execution, an empty cell. The overseer tries to fly, but a whip cuts his dream short. And Kibalchich's dream bursts out of the Peter and Paul Fortress, filling the entire screen with a rocket.
