Undefeated in bare-knuckle fights, the man who was too strong, "Bare-Knuckle Shige," a.k.a. Shigeo Yanagawa, quickly gained attention even as a high school student for his impressive fighting skills and charismatic personality, becoming a prominent figure in Matsuyama, Shikoku. Things changed when an attempt was made on the life of Genichiro Kumada, the head of the Kumada family who had looked after Shigeo. This incident drew him into the yakuza world.
